Cricket

Welcome to the best club in Surrey! Old Hamptonians CC is a fun, exciting, and diverse club where people can play cricket and develop long-lasting friendships. We aim to be a positive, dynamic, and rewarding place for all cricketers to improve their skills. We are committed to running our club with three guiding principles: competitiveness, enjoyment, and integrity. We are a perfect blend of Hamptonians and cricketers from a wide variety of other backgrounds.

We field four league sides on a Saturday, playing at varying levels of the Surrey Championship, a regular friendly 5th XI and sometimes a 6th XI.  Our 1st XI is entered into the Surrey T20 and Bertie Joel Trophy, often competing against the biggest clubs in Surrey & London and we enter a midweek side in the Surrey Slam Cup competition.

We also field an Under 21 side in Tier 1 of the Surrey Trust League, maintaining a healthy flow of Hampton School leavers and other youngsters coming into the club, preparing them for adult cricket in the company of people they’ve grown up playing with at the highest possible standard.

Finally, we facilitate an Old Hamptonians XI who participate in The Nicholson Cricketer Cup, a prestigious tournament allowing Hampton School alumni to compete against representative sides of many of the country's oldest and best-performing cricketing schools

History

Founded in 1557, Hampton School for Boys has a strong and illustrious sporting history, and cricket is a major part of school sports. Toby Roland-Jones and Zafar Ansari representing England in Test Match Cricket and recent leavers Blake Cullen and Naavya Sharma are evidence of the wealth of talent that is coming through the school.

Our archives show that the cricket club was founded in November 1926. Those school alumni who now represent the OH are proud to be following in the footsteps of those who created the opportunity for everyone to play for the club.

Culture

We are focused on building a strong core of talented cricketers, proud to represent the club and uphold our core values. We are fortunate to have a wide playing base which is stacked with experience and youthful exuberance, giving our newest recruits the perfect opportunity to learn and adapt their game. Our location on the border of Surrey and Middlesex makes us accessible to lots of people.

If you’re looking to join a club with aspirations to improve, whilst nurturing homegrown talent and having fun, then why not get in touch and see what we can offer you on and off the field?
